hahaha, actually no point asking this question, if the seller wanna hide such issues, will asking be a solution? Definitely not lor......so ask this question for what? whether i sell the watch cos I wanna upgrade to another watch, or being cash strapped, etc also not anyone else's concern ma....

I mean, imagine the seller really sold it due to issues and hide this fact. you as a buyer after a few days encounter problems. Would you be happy to have to bring it back to service (assuming even have warranty?)

but of cos, the ans from the seller is based on trust. If he say no issues and later got issues within a week, then you know what kinda seller you met. Then in future can black list.
For me, if Im the buyer or seller, I always prefer to meet at the watch service centre and send for verification, most of the time, the ppl verifying will not only authenticate but also give advise on the condition of the movement.

I don't see any problem with such questions, as long as I know how to answer them appropriately. There are always reasons behind some questions; reasons that only the person asking will know. At the end of the day, as long as that person buys my watch, it really doesn't matter.

Allow me to quote the words of wisdom:

" In a perfect world, that would logically be how things should pan out. But seriously, we are talking about human beings and differences in personalities/morals do come into play here...that's why we have wars and conflicts in this world simply because everybody behaves/reacts differently from what you expect them to...

As I am writing this response, I am recalling the lyrics to DM's "People are People". Great song, great band

In short, there is no clear answer to your questions. Just take it easy mate

True la there are reasons behind every person's question, but then the way the person put across and posed his questions via sms, seems like demanding me to give the details, by asking me to meet at his office during lunch already I give in as a seller liao, then nw still ask for such details, no matter what the reason is, I don like lor, so I wont sell to such ppl even if they offer higher price. I rather wait out for another buyer to buy at a reasonable market price.....

same rice we eat, millions of characters it breeds.

customers are at the buying end but I too can choose who to sell to...

        my encounter...

"how much discount you get, can you give me the same discount for the price you selling me..."

I smsed...."see my middle finger growing?"

i suppose some of the buyers ask so many questions due to -

-1st time spend so much on a timepiece
            -worried about buying a 'lemon'
-like to know which sales person to go to in the future for a good discount and service

For me i am a fast buyer...price ok and the condition of the watch as described by seller ....BOOMZ...i pull the trigger...

But hor...i usually buy the inexpensive watches < 1k price

usually if one wants to buy, the onus is on buyer to make the effort to meet the seller unless seller offers to bring to buyer....

once when i was selling, buyer said, "can you come to me since I am buying, if I choose not to buy then i will save a trip...."

what about me? I lose potential sales from entertaining you and i wasted a trip myself...and it was at other end of the island!

likewise, my middle finger grew long long in the returned sms.

i had my fair share of strange questions but i think i really don't like the kind where they request a trade with 3 / 4 / 5 much lesser value watches which will most probably not interest me. Because i usually state what i am looking for when i want to trade. which is most of the time, either i have to top up or is most likely not going to appear in a trade situation.

No need to get so hot over such questions...or as you sell more watches you will get used to them. I once selling a $150 watch also the buyer asked a lot of questions that most of us wouldn't be asking (not for a $150 watch at least), but eventually he bought it.

I think in all sort of sale dealings the buyers have the right to ask any question relevant to the item. If I come across a strange question that I feel is irrelevant, I would ask back the buyer "what does that matter", or just ignore the fella (if the question is asked thru sms/email).

Sorry, "what does that matter" should read as "how does that matter. Typed too fast...

not sure whether this would be the right question,,,,,

buyer pays for authentication,,,, if it is a franken/fake, why should buyer pay for authentication, also if you are buying a $10,000, a $80 authenication should be the last thing on the mind,,,,,

                          it should be:
                          1. if fake, seller pays.
                          2. if genuine, frankly buyer pays for the peace of mind or seller pays for goodwill, don't really matters

                          is non-obligation viewing really non-obligation?

sorry, me have not bought/sold anything yet,,,

Me also never bought or sold anything in the forum...

I agree with if fake, for sure the seller should pay, but I think if genuine, and since seller is delivering as advertised, then buyer should pay lor (after all, it is optional right?)

I am just wondering, how many of the deals actually involved going to RSC to verify or the trust is there in the forum (esp with bros that have good reputation)?

                            Anyone would like to share?

I have bought/sold quite a few watches but so far never went through any authentification process at service centre. But I am not suggesting that authentification is entire unnecessary - you better do if you are buyer a preowned rolex from some Tom, Dick or Harry. Some barnds are more likely to have fake than others so do your homework and exercise common sense, or just pay some extra $ to authentify for piece of mind.

When come to authentification fee, the common understanding is that seller will pay the fee if the watch is found to be fake/not original, though this condition is usually not specified. Best is to confirm with the seller if you ever need to go through this process.

I guess one of my strangest encounter to-date is when the prospective buyer actually 'hinted' that I should bear the cost for the addition of spare links (which was provided along with boxes, warranty cards, etc.) to the watch-band at Omega Boutique (and that was after last minute bargaining and changing of meeting venues, etc.).

The deal eventually did not go through (as I refused to pay for above cost?) and the watch was subsequently sold to a gentleman as a better price.
