Doomsday on 21 Dec 2012....

Solar maxima is predicted to occur in 2012...and the sun's polarity is expected to flip again...(last one occuring in 2001)...could knock out telecommunication system on earth unless we can devise some solar or magnetic shield to prevent the effects from reaching earth...

i doubt doomsday would occur but there are lots of theories explaining that this could trigger a reversal/shift in magnetic poles of the earth...and cosmic rays and radiation would bombard earth, due to the absence of the magnetic field to protect us...

only time will tell if any of these will occur..
