I am wondering to get the 3G iPad for not-so-serious work and simply to replace my netbook. My current concern is the 3G version.

I want to use it on 3G and the road and not rely on wifi alone. Suggestions include since iPad uses a mini SIM card, and someone says that can use a normal sim card and cut. Others talk about tethering.

anyone actually tried that before?

I jus brought back a whole load of iPads for myself n my friends n a bagful of accessories as well.

those that I bought 3G for have already gotten their multi-SIM card n one of is actually successful in cutting it up n getting it to work on the iPad. So the rest of us are waiting for him to do it for us. What we found out is if you want to get the micro-SIM card, the telco's gonna charge u with the data plan. All of us have the iPhone plan which we do not exceed the monthly usage, so might as well use it on the iPad too.

There are many links teaching you how to cut the SIM cut n also how to jailbreak the iPad.

no lah, when you jailbreak your ipad or iphone, you can download apps for free...

so with standard SIM card cut to fit to iPad and all ok, sounds good,,,, can really consider getting one sometime in sept when friend visiting US,,,,

i have heard about the different size of chip size card.

for those who have tried the cutting out the sim, does it cut out the contact chip point? if it does, does it still work?

did it work? pre-paid card got any data plan? so far I've never heard of anyone using a pre-paid card...all used a multi-SIM card. Can you confirm? If pre-paid card really can work, then everyone including me would be rushing to get the pre-paid card for their iPads. Thanks.
