  • Just want to share a story of a big pilot.... (MUST READ)

    Dear all bros!

I'm a newbie in this forum, recently put up my BREITLING SKYLAND for sale, and I reserved it for this bro because he agreed to deal, and I reserved it for ONE WHOLE WEEK, and I feel extremely sian and dissappointed now.

    Heres the story,

Soon after I list my watch at the sales section, I received some solid $ offers, then this bro PM me, he asked whether would I want to trade for his Planet Ocean Chrono, one to one.

Personally I like the Planet ocean alot, so I asked for more photo, he sent to my email and it has a orange croc strap, he told me that the strap is brand new from swatch, just replaced recently, he is so kind to tell me I can polish the Breitling for free at wisma, wow I thought I met an angel? I really didn't know I can do that for free.

Well anyway, great deal I thought, I asked when can we deal? He said weekend, then he told me he will confirm with me next day morning.

Tuesday : Morning until afternoon I receive no SMS from him, so I smsed him, asking whether are we meeting later?
He replied that he will be working until late, so I offered to drive to his place to deal at night.
Then later he told me that he asked his wife to locate the watch, and the strap is actually lost, misplaced while moving house and tell me whether can I accept a Hirsch aftermarket strap.
I requested for photo, then I said, can't deal, he replied me offering me a rubber strap from omega, then eventually I say ok good, we can deal (after confirming that the strap is not the diver strap but the rounder rubber with deployment buckle).

Wednesday: I messaged him, whether If he is getting the strap soon? He say he will go down to take a look on friday to see the designs, ok good I replied.

Thursday: NO communication even after I tell him to call me up when he is at the place to buy strap, so I can choose since we are trading.

Friday : 1am in morning, not midnight, he messaged me telling me he is going for the bracelet instead, I asked "why?", he replied saying that the rubber is not available until 8 weeks later and he asked how much do I want to top up to get the new bracelet and he will consider about it.

He told me the rubber strap is $500, and the bracelet is $900, so I say, $400 top up, since the rubber is $500 and bracelet is $900, fair enough?

No reply from here..... 11.30 am I sent him a message, "Bro how is it going?" No reply... 6.30PM messaged him "bro are we still trading? hows the consideration of my $400 top up offer?" no reply.. at this point I already feel the super aeroplaned.

I re-create a new thread and put my breitling for sale again, I've rejected like 6 offers because it was reserved from monday until friday (I'm so sorry bros who offered me), because I want the omega planet ocean deal and I want to honor it.

9.30 PM I received his reply, "yes bro(we can deal), how about monday or tuesday?"

I asked about dealing on weekend, he say ok how about sunday?

Ok and I reserved the watch once again on Saturday on the new thread, since already confirmed deal.

2.20PM Saturday, I messaged him asking what time to meet tomorrow as I need to plan time, 4.00PM he replied, asking my watch list price, and tell me that we will be meeting at night on sunday, I gave him the answer he want.
No reply until 7pm, he give me the ultimate aeroplane statement, "hi mate, decided not to sell the omega instead, sorry for all the troubles".

I questioned him, telling that I have rejected so many real offers just to honor the deal, and why did he commit to deal so many time ???

He replied.. "well i realised that after buying the bracelet, it look really nice mate, really sorry for all that has happened"

Bro...... I'm just a newbie, do you have to aim me and play me like that? If you cannot honor the trade then please don't commit and say yes we are dealing.

Anyway, for awareness, should I announce who this big pilot is?

Looking forward to imputs from fellow kind bros... who can feel what I feel...

    Thanks

You can trust my words when I say most of us have been there in your situation. I can only say... live and learn.

We've heard one side of the story, and not the other side. Even if you're given benefit of doubt about what happened, it's not justifiable to post his nick and flog him in public. What he did was just to flak on the deal, and he did not commit a crime. We can only call it bad trading stewardship. Even in the past, when the forummers have read about a local scammer who cheated other forummer with a fake Daytona iirc, the perpetrator's nick wasn't exposed in the end, even when most forummers asked the victim to do so. If you want to warn others about this person, do it via PM when others enquire, no one's stopping you.

And you must accept that in a pre-owned market, there are pilots galore. Next time, don't bother to hold, first come first serve. If the other party gives some crap reason even when you offer to drive down no matter how late, it's already an indication that he/she is not sincere. If you must hold, make it a max of 2 days, else just go for a cash deal (though I believe both parties can't agree on trade values easily, and it will be a hassle to go here and there for verification).

Upset as you may feel, let's put it this way, would you rather make a bigger loss and sell it to a watch trader?

Just move on, there are nice sincere chaps who are genuine buyers. All the best!

        Hey bro,

Thanks bro for the input, I understand what you are saying, I just need to share (发泄) with other forumers how I feel, I got principle (原则) when I do things.
For me it is as long as I say it, I will do it, of course there is alot of different people in this world.

This high ranking pilot that I'm talking about... slowly take his time to reply ppl sms, tell people this missing that missing, tell people getting bracelet end up ownself "fall in love" and give the lame excuse not to deal and before that still ask me the AD list price... Everyday different story, then tell people can deal, end up ... falling in love with the new bracelet.

Like you say, live and learn, I store all his sms, to remind myself of such people.

I won't post his nick, not because it is not justifiable, it is because I have already bros who are interested to know, bros who are interested to know will ask, no need me to post, right?

        Peace out.

Most of us who has even sold/brought something here would have experienced something similar. Just forget it and move on.

Do you know there's a facility here called the "iTrader"? You can make a remark/comment in the person's account and copy the link of the thread you'd created on the case. This can help those who may be involved in a deal with that person in future, and to approach it with caution.

I empathize with you and I, myself, are not spared of such encounters. Take it from most seniors here, to accept it as a lesson learned and move on. Not easy though, but try.

And if you don't mind to share, pl pm me that person.

                    Tx.

Hi pls do a feedback at this person's profile. that will make a remark and will help future traders be aware of this person. Take it as a lesson.

                        Hi Bro,
Can empathize with what you're going through and this has happened to quite a number of us.
Once I waited 4 weeks for this joke of a seller to deal. He kept dragging the deal and claiming he was moving house etc.
In the end (after the afore-said 4 weeks), a couple of hours before we were supposed to deal, he said he didn't want to sell anymore and I disappointed but I told him it was fine.
The a couple of weeks later, this idiot messages again and asked if I was interested in his watch and I said yes. Then he has the cheek to increase his asking price, so I lividly gave it to him.
I guess we change our minds about buying or selling sometimes and I must confess I have flaked out of deals myself but I don't drag deals for weeks (I inform the buyer/seller within a day of my changed mind if I have committed to buying or selling and apologize).
                        Don't leave people hanging on.

I can share your feeling bro. For me if the buyer show any sign of dragging the deal such as changing a fixed appointment or keep coming back with more questions I will tell him if I receive other offer I would not hold the watch for him. Otherwise the seller might miss the opportinity to sell the watch and will be forced to off load the watch at a lower price, especially for watch that are not so popular.

To help you 发泄 please pm me who this pilot is so I could also look out for him when I deal

Good luck to your future dealings
