  • Vacheron constantin overseas...

Hi bro again. looking at getting a VC lately, after all, they are the watch company with the longest history, and a member of the "trinity of the world of horology".

Been walking and looking around and the overseas caught my eyes. It's a simple and updated watch. But understand that the watch was only launched in 2003... Heard it's VC's effort in breaking into the "big sports watch" era. The brand itself is doing big time in china, even more "in" than pateks...
However, in singapore, not many has been said about VC...

Any opinions on the "overseas"... Feel free to share your views...

        Like the VC Overseas Chrono

Not familiar, but if there're rubber straps to replace the leather, would be nice!

Among Trinity, AP, PP & VC, I'll give the PP a miss.... it's just personal preference...never liked its brand, marketing, design,...

i recently bought the white dial version of VC OS...very comfortable, well made bracelet, lightweight and is very accurate. the dial is beautiful!

the price difference b/t the chrono and non-chrono is wide....the non chrono runs on JLC movement and the chrono runs on F.Piguet movement. basically, you pay for the movement (and the big date) for chrono version....but how often do you use the function? the price difference is about $8K

personally if im buying VC, i would prefer the watch to have its own in house movement rather than use third party movement such as JLC.

if using other brand movement, might as well buy other brand. after all it is the branding.

i wont deny that...perhaps buying a JLC will be good enough! however, when we look around, how many brands actually develop their own movements? most swiss brands will get their base movements from someone else and then modify or give them a better finishing....buying a watch is usually irrational.

VC is employing their in-house movement for the overseas right?

Recently saw in the windows at Raffles City.... Rubber-strapped VC OS

Not familiar so didn't notice if its black or grey...

But I saw the $ tag.... IIRC $28k+

May sound ludicrous.... but I'm contemplating getting rid of my GMT II & Daytona gradually to get the 3717-01, Portuguese Chrono Auto & the VC OS

Can experienced bros here give some advice? Thanks

VC, JLC, IWC all owned by the same parent company as I'm sure you know, so perhaps psychologically some owners are able accept that the VC Overseas uses a JLC movement : p
