  • Rolex resale value

    Dear all,

would like to know if buying a brand new rolex, then if one day you wanna re- sell it, you will loss at least 30% or more? Then buying a used one make more sense?

    Pls advise. Thank you

For Rolex, you don't lose as much, but yes, get a pre-owned piece if you are concerned about resale value and dumping the watch in the short term.

If you buy a brand new Rolex, wear it for 5-7 years and sell it, you probably lose very little, break even or even make a few hundred dollars.

Depending on models. But usually wont lose out that much, it depends on the watch condition as well.......Anyway, the market is flooded with MANY rolexes..Try not choose the common ones...

all rolex don't have the same depreciation value. used rolex depreciation may be lesser compared to brand new ones.

sport model for selected few have little depreciation. models like daytona can have little depreciation value, some might have positive returns.

DJ models tend to have lower resale value compared to sport models. but then again some sport models can depreciate quickly. explorer II (common model) price rocketed after takeshi was photograph with one and the price just went up. resale value also went up.

the resale value of rolex can also depend on the availability of box and papers/card on top of the watch condition.

before buying rolex or any other brands regardless new or used, check the market pricing.

Go for sports models and the more popular ones. Buying pre-owned is always great.

Jus like cars. Some ppl will only buy new car cos dun like 2nd hand. They rather pay higher price but own a new one.

Some dun mind buy 2nd hand cos they know they will sell it (watch or car) one day.

Of cos some will say car is not an asset lar. Both car and watch (common rolex models) depreciate over time.

Agree, depreciation lower if you wanna sell it next time. Again, need to do more homework and depends on luck as well.
