I commute by MRT to work too. Staying in the North and working at Raffles Place, it really makes economical sense to take public transport.
ERP alone would cost $15 or so during the peak hours and this amount would more than doubled if the parking charges are to be added.
Plus it is not that driving would allow me to shorten the journey time. I also usually have a seat both ways as well as there are empty trains starting at Yishun to town in the mornings and leaving earlier almost always guarantees a seat at Raffles Place on my way home too.
