2 $1.25m Lexus sold
The 4.8-litre V10 engine-powered Lexus LFA, with a top speed of 325kmh, has a carbon fibre bodywork and can sprint from zero to 100kmh in 3.7 seconds.
TWO units of the new $1.25 million Lexus LFA sports car bound for Singapore were snapped up even before the price was confirmed, reported The Business Times on Friday.
The limited edition cars, the first ever produced by Japan, were booked by two long-time Lexus owners who are businessmen in their 60s, according to BT.
William Choo, commercial director of Borneo Motor's Lexus division, said that the businessmen has each written a cheque for $80,000 as deposit for the cars after the Chinese New Year holidays, 'even before we could give them a firm price.'
Singapore has been allocated two units of only 500 cars to be produced over a two-year period, with the first car expected to be delivered in the first quarter of next year.
Mr Choo told BT that Borneo Motors, Lexus' authorised distributor in Singapore, hopes to 'be able to get a couple more' because 'there is strong interest from at least two more people.'
