Newbie qns - Panerai or Rolex ??

Hi,

i've been contemplating for a long time between Panerai and Rolex GMT II ceramic. I've heard Panerai watches aren't worth their value. Though desings are nice, its overhyped and overpriced. I can get a GMT II ceramic for about 2 more k.

For Rolex, its common with Ah Bengs spoiling its image (no offence, but its a fact)...but the value of Rolex will always be there..

Any advice ? thanks

Depends which model of Panerai. Panerai overpriced? Yes from the watch movement point of view (not the inhouse movement). You could get Panerai hommage for SGD 1000 or less, using the same Unitas Swiss movement and nicely decorated. Not overpriced if you consider what people are willing to pay at the resale market. IMHO Rolex sport modells don't have ah-beng's look. Why worry what people think about it? Buy what you like more. Good luck

one thing i noticed is that panerai has a high resale value because for each series, they limit production to a certain quantity for some models. this would hence drive up the price when demand exceed supply. however, rolex sports models prices have high resale value despite not limited in production.

if one of these days, should panerai go mass production, would the resale value maintain?

my advice, set budget first then look for what brands and models are available to you.

this is my exact hinking too... panerai definitely will move to MP more pcs in time to come... I mean for 300pcs per series, u command more of a premium (by AD) noit at the manufacturer side... But if u make 1000 pcs, lesser premium for the same series but the m,anufacturer earns alot more!!

Think it's still a very personal choice. No hard n fast rules which shld come first. Let ur heart take u. If my choice, it's definitely gonna b ROLEX!

Hahha...this is a Rolex forum...so yeah chances of expecting Rolex as ur answer is pretty high.

And my answer is going to be the same as most people...ROLEX.

wat i meant was generally rolex models are easier to resell compared to other brands.just like in in our garage sales folder normally the rolex posted for sale is more then often sold faster then other makes.

in a rolex forum, i would say option 3. in other forum, i will still say option 3. if it is for u, option 3 is definte because it will 'complete' your rolex collection

that was tritons answer to the topic of which of the 3 watches has a better resale value.which i fully agree.of cause different ppl have different set of criteria but thats the general opinion.we are in a rolex forum so obviously will be a little biased towards rolex models.
