I'm not a tube expert lah bro....I often visit Old aunty boss chatting at her shop "Martin Electronic" Her knowledge in tubes & DIY is the best ! Another super lau_chao >> Larry Hi-Fi ....I can find many rare NOS at his shop but his tubes price cost a lot more than martin's .

wow!! More the reason to head back to SG to feed my audio addiction. Its been about 3yrs, since ive been back.

Are you running OTL on your tubes?

Also where to buy good and cheap NOS tubes in sg? Currently considering to build this

Seems that more tube lovers here

For me, solid state is the way to go and I like the way it sounds.

Hifi/hi end is similar to collecting watches. It's subjective and what I like may not be what you like. There are common agreements/arguments on what are good and what are not. It will remain this way. Most important thing is, you like how it sounds

the debate "solid state vs tubes" I've used both, and at one stage, used the OPA627/637 to replicate the sound of tubes . But nowadays, OPA627/637 quite difficult to source. naturally, that means they are pricey as hell, with alot of fakes in the market

The lengthy audiophile tunnel most of us must have gone thru >>

Tis Exposure & Alchemist come closer to tube sound. NoteMost solid State required good power cord to perform best. But not an issue on tube amp.

                          Another local audio site?

Sorry to resurrect this thread but since Echoloft seems to be permanently down (anyone knows why?), is there an alternative local site esp for buy/sell? There used to be another site called "extreme hifi" or something but can't find it as well. Anyone knows?
