A FORMER deputy director in the Defence Ministry's defence policy office has been convicted for misconduct under military law.

The senior army officer, who was brought before a tribunal on Jan 7, was fined $6,000 for the offence.

Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick Teo Li-Wei, 33, pleaded guilty to one charge of behaving in a manner unbecoming of a member of the Singapore Armed Forces.

His offence involved a female subordinate, although the exact nature of what happened was not made public.

The court martial took place at a subordinate military court at the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Court Martial Centre in Choa Chu Kang Way on Monday.

The SAF scholar, who has a son but is separated from his wife, has also been suspended from his duties, said Mindef.

I absolutely agree with you on that. It is unfair to judge the rest simply because one has stepped out of line and was caught.

But for this case, quite sad for this guy... High flyer... but too bad because of this case, he have to resign/sacked......

Seen people lost jobs on this kind of matters. Can happen in anywhere.

It's a thin line. Women like it, it's giving attention. Don't like it, its harassment.
It can be only verbal. Usually happen to senior positions as more opportunities to misuse power.

If young 22yrs old single chap, they probably tell you to xxx off. The law is at the woman's side as some women abuse but most do not. Decent women who stand out to report, there will be something on. Hassles, reputation, not easy task.

Funny that many senior position people cannot do a simple Cost Benefit Analysis. High flying LTC can easily make above 15K. Can easily look for foreign talents, local talents until you get six pack.

If looking for relationship better confirm, double confirm before shoot. Like Korean show, talk talk hold hands. Unless you are one love saint who is willing to risk everything for love (or lust).

Army is about discipline. Action committed by this officer cannot be condone. This serve as a warning to high ranking officer as not to abuse their authorities.

LTC at the at the age of 33yrs wat kind of experience do they have? Paper talk only.

I thought the pay scale was:
LTA - $2.5k to $3k
Cpt - $3k to $4k
MAJ - $4k to $5k
LTC - $6k to $8k
COL - $9k to $10k
