Registry of Marriages, Registry of Muslim marriages to undergo facelift

SINGAPORE: The Registry of Marriages (ROM) and Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) at Canning Rise will undergo a major upgrade next year, the first since they opened in 1983.
When completed in January 2011, the public can expect a modern building with improved accessibility.
An open concept design will allow more natural light into the building and better integration with the surrounding Fort Canning Park.
The external grounds of the building will also be landscaped to improve overall ambience.
While the renovation is taking place, both registries will operate out of the Ministry of National Development Building (MND) at Maxwell Road from January 26.
To facilitate the move, both registries will be closed between January 23 and 25.
During this period, members of the public can continue to call the ROM and ROMM main lines for assistance and enquiries.
