He is desperate for the cash and we only have 25K RMB.

      back to topic...

Lowballing ok? NO not for me,vice versa...i dun lowball seller either. If really sincere in buying afew hundreds i believe its negotiable but not thousand of dollars off market price. (this are popular brands/models i'm referring, and got a market price we all know and familiar) If i' no intention in buying i will not even ask..

I've been a buyer and seller,no problem if sincere buyer counter offer but be a "reasonable" one and i will consider. (this is provided i'm not in a hurry to sell) Not over thousand of dollars,or even counter offer halve the selling price. This will certainly piss any seller off. Than why any seller bother to post it here for sale. May as well sell it to Pawn or pre-owned shop save seller all the trouble to reply sms,PMs even making time to meet up with buyer. Why we sometimes add "lowball" cos we really dun wanna waste each other's time. Even walking into a preowned shop would you bring yourself to lowball this i wonder or just online not facing one another so no paiseh just try luck..

Last but not least,we all grown ups. We respect one another be it a buyer or a seller.

      You know when you lowballed...

totally agree. This is what I meant, I bought my bike at SGD600 2 years ago, selling at SGD150 which I consider it as reasonable. Receiving offers like SGD30 is going to make anyone pissed.

This is not about the sincerity nor intention per se, but more so about the reality. The reality is that once goods have been used, they depreciate. Given the financial means, everyone in this world would only buy NEW, but in reality it is not so. It's silly for anyone to think that they can buy something new, use it and then pass it onto the next person for minimal loss. If you think that, then heads in the clouds.

Everyone loves a bargain and most of us here are Asian so that rule applies even more. Already, if you go to buy a new Rolex you would bargain hard. So if you then sell that Rolex, wouldn't you expect that person buying from you to bargain hard as well?...

If someone comes to you with a price within the 30 - 40% depreciation range then I really don't think that's lowballing. Obviously, if someone is slashing your price in half then that's not lowballing as well, that's being stupid and an idiot. But all in all, I don't think that buyers are wasting people's time by making offers below Bidding Price, it's the sellers who are unreasonable to think that their goods are immune to discounting.

My best example would be the numerous sellers who post 'no lowballing', to only reduce their price within days.

          Peace out.

Speedfreak I totally understand what you meant.. It is not lowballing if you are offering a reasonable price considering the age and condition.

In my opinion, lowballing is you know that the market price for example a 2nd hand Tag Carrera Chrono is around SGD2300 to SGD2500, someone selling the exact piece at SGD2100. Pretty okay deal ya? But a lowballer will offer prices like 1k. They dont really have the intention to buy the watch, but just want to try their luck on insane offers.

            Peace out

I ever offered 2.5k b4 for a 2 year old tag carrera chrono just to be sham as a low baller

In the end his watch was reduced to 2.5k but I already bought something else keke...in the end dunno sold anot....

same as another guy's PO in this forum. I offered 3k when he was selling it for 3.3k. PM was ignored as a low baller and after a few months, lowered to 3k then he managed to sell it (probably below 3k)

What I want to point out is, its hard to define 'lowball'. a difference of 200-300 for a 4k watch might be reasonable to some but low ball to others. hence, this thread will lead to no-where as no one can physically determine what is lowball or not. Its all a very personal and subjective thingy

Thing is, not to be angry or upset. if price doesnt mean what seller or buyer wants, then just move on. there will always be another

              peace!! peace!! peace!!!
I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch, I dont need another watch.........

In my opinion, an offer for the above of SGD1800, would not even be lowballing, more negotiating. If the above didn't receive any offers for a week, I'd pretty much bet he'd let go for 1900/2000. At the end of the day why do we sell our used items?... Cause we not long have a need or desire for them anymore, thus we are ( or should be) willing to part with them for a loss.

My thing is against the sellers who high and almighty "no low ballers" " you know who you are" " Low ballers ignored" type attitude, when really isn't the buyer doing you a favour by taking your unwanted goods off your hands?.

                Peace out!

me think you are contradicting yourself? so for a seller, is he/she/it suppose to be high and almighty "no low ballers" " you know who you are " "Low ballers ignored" type attitude and ignore those offering 1k for the 2nd hand Tag Carrera Chrono?

Ok, need to go toilet now...Piss out!

If I didn't read SpeedFreak wrongly, he has been trying to say that some sellers should not label potential buyers as "lowballers" because the perception of "lowball" is highly subjective, as pointed out correctly by exxondus. If a pre-own tag-carrera that is going for 2k plus and someone offers 1k, then it is clear-cut "lowballing". But if the offer is like 1.8k, then to some people it is fine. But to others, it may be a "lowball" price.

So I learnt something here, ie be polite and patient when you want to sell/buy things online. Don't label/criticise people unnecessarily unless it is explicitly obvious that a particular offer is an act of mischief. Please be mindful that not everyone here has the same level of knowledge on watches and their pricing. So, be polite and let us all enjoy the little journey here. Life is short.

as both a seller and buyer on this forum, lowballing is really irrelevant to me
when you lowball me (whether S$50 or S$10,000 below current mkt price) when i am selling, i just treat your price as a counteroffer. an unrealistic counteroffer which even then, i may or may not accept (depends on situation). nobody says i must sell to you.
when I lowball (whether S$50 or S$10,000 below current mkt price) a seller, nobody says seller must sell to me. if he/she/it likes my price, he/she/it will sell. if he/she/it does not like my price, he/she/it will ask me to piss off.

                              Okay, piss out!

I think lowballer is easy to handle lah. Just ignore it completely or a simple reply "NO".

The worst nightmare for the seller is still the PILOT. Agreed the price & MIA when contacted to close the deal
