quit watching drama long time ago.

recycled story line. HK always rich pple fighting. Korea imaginary love. Taiwan inspired from manga. SG inspired from everywhere else and creatively manage to stay boring.

I recorded what I wanted to watch on HD recorder then FWD unwanted areas.

Variety shows, mmm, variety of swee mm...

Let's see what you can do for $9/month -

          1) Download stuff from the internet - about 10 days of a broadband connection.

          2) Rent a series of your choice for DVD/CD - 2 seasons at $4.50/season. Each season about 5-6 episodes.

          3) Buy a VCD of your favourite drama.

          4) Half a month of cable TV (set to get cheaper with more competition).

.... better than paying stupid radio / tv licence to watch and listen to more stories about which minister went where, did what ... and all the lame drama.

          Sigh.

$110 a year is a lot of money for a free-to-air licence. Anyone know where to get a breakdown of how all the licence fees are being spent? Should MDA be held accountable?

            Bingo.
Even though cable tv costs $20 a month, I feel I get more value. My own experience (strictly), but there is at least one programme I enjoy on a given day.

            With free-to air, that's maybe 2 a week.
It was 4, but it dwindled to 2 ... and now I think its down to 1.

              The Straits Times

Cable channels have eaten into free-to-air TV's share of the viewing pie in Singapore.

On any given night, about two-thirds or 64 per cent of households with cable television are tuned to a cable programme instead of a free-to-air (FTA) channel.

This has gone up from four years ago. In 2005, the share of cable programmes in homes with cable was 59 per cent.
