      • don think so leh. I mean if he decided to surrender, then why bother to withhold information and get himself into further trouble?

        • ooiii... can't say tat. very hard to say hor.. surrendering to authority does not equate accepting full responsibility of a crime, and does not guarantee the criminal will "bao-toh" his/her accomplices hor.

            hmm

            1) this means he came back (maybe with the intention to have a lighter sentence).

            2) Then jiang yi qi and withhold information that prevents the police from carrying out their investigation, and hence, tio slap with another offence.

2 offsets 1 with a heavier offence and he tio even more jia lak

            quite smart of him keke...

              • Ex—Cortina employee pleads guilty to 5 charges in watch heist case

SINGAPORE : Former Cortina Watch employee, Jerry Ee has pleaded guilty to five charges — four for criminal breach of trust and one for money laundering.

He will be sentenced on September 18. Twenty other criminal breach of trust charges will be taken into consideration.

Last Christmas, Ee returned to Cortina’s Raffles City outlet after it had closed. Disarming the security alarm, he entered the safe, removed almost S$8 million worth of loot — 366 new watches, five pairs of cuff links and S$27,137 cash.

The court heard that in less than 30 minutes, he was done and left after re—activating the security alarm.

In March this year, Ee was brought back after 80 days on the run. It appears that he had fled overland to Thailand.

After selling 21 of the watches in Bangkok, Ee hid in Pattaya for about three months before surrendering to Thai authorities.

For the each of the four criminal breach of trust charges, Ee faces up to 15 years in prison and could also be fined. For the money laundering charge, he could be jailed up to seven years if convicted and/or fined up to S$500,000.

                  • There is no such thing as lighter sentence if he surrender in sg... look at Ah hua, that guy who "walk" back to Malaysia after killing the little girl, he also surrendered himself, but in the end also died....

                    • I read a longer article where it was reported that he switched customers' old watches with new (stolen) ones. That was when some customers sent in their watches for repair/service with cortina, Jerry would replace new ones for the customers w/o the company's knowledge. Thereafter, he'd pawn the customers' watches for money. It's in today's newspapers.

So those who'd such dealings with Jerry, you need not own up..

                        • Known Jerry for years and regular customer of Cortina. Sad to know Jerry had gone to the darkside.

The last 2 watches i bought from Cortina thru Jerry was a Patek Philippe Nautilus moon face and Vacheron Constantin Malte Dual Time Regulateur before he has gone abscond. Hope he has learned his lessons well.

                            • I think with him revealing such information, the company, if not, the Police will likely probe and find out who those customers are. It will be traceable too. So the "replaced watch" becomes a case exhibit and can be seized under the law, for investigation/prosecution. Even the old watch that was pawned can be seized. So good luck to those customers..
