That's good; meaning no discount too, but shop is willing to absorb the bank interest. Teach me someday .

The 'funny' thing is: the interest is when you pay using credit card (CC). I've forgotten if it is 2% or 3%. And it is for when you pay in full sum in credit card. Then if you want to use the same credit card to pay in instalment, it is another set of interest. That was the case at JW Watch and hobbylink previously. I'm not sure about now.

So for example a $10k watch: you pay in cash, you pay $10k; pay with CC, you add 3% more = $10,300; then you want to pay in instalment of 6 mths, you add 4% = $10,700. The interest increases when you drag your payment longer, e.g. 6 mths-4%, 12 mths-5% and 24 mths-6%.

You can call jw/hobbylink to check up over the phone.

Not to derail the OP's post but I think I just OCBC offering 0% 30 month installment plans for THG purchase. This might be of interest to some folks.

It is not interest-free for the merchant (seller).

Yes, you're right, it is something like that. For low profit, they have to "charge" you interest, if not, eat what?

You can try buying a Rolex sport from THG and after the 15% disc (if any) and ask for this installment plan and see if they can give you or not...

pay by instalment, 1 have to pay more.

if you have a card issued by SCB, you can opt to pay thru normal CC transaction with the 3% surcharge...

later, SMS to SCB to opt for installment plan up to 12mths... avoid additional 4% surcharge... but valid during GSS period only...
