If i am at 20+ and no commitments. I will go for it.
If i am 30+ and only 10k in bank, I will keep it for raining days.

I read in some self improvement book long time ago that you should always set aside 6months to 1 year of your monthly income for rainy days.
IMO that is very good and simple financial management.
here is how it works.for example:-
if you only need $1K to survive each month, then 10K is a lot and you can consider saving $6k to $7K and spending the rest to buy a watch.
if you need $5K to sustain yourself each month, then you are broke if you only have $10K, better save 10 times that amount (i.e $50K) before you consider buying a rolex.
it is all about how much you need to spend a month (your fixed costs) Versus your cash in hand.My 18K Gold Day Date "President" Collection:

I would say 20-25% of your liquid savings will be good. In the worse case scenario, even if you force sell your watch, at most you lose 20% of what you paid earlier, which probably amounts to 4-5% of your total liquid savings.Current babies:

So, whenever I feel like doing this again, I will always remember the first time I did it and how miserable the experience was. Good lesson for life.
