Just lucky....I think I talked to you about stocks about one or two years ago when I met you at the East, during those time, whatever stock you buy now also can earn money no need to be good....

Every year I allocate $XX,XXX for my "toys fund", how much $ allocated depends on how well I do for that fiscal year, so if I am crazy over watches for that year, I will go all out to deplete the funds buying watches only. That way, I won't overspend and won't feel guilty.

How much will you spend on a watch with your savings?

As topic above, lets say you have 10K in your bank and you really want a Rolex watch very much, how much would you want to spend on one? Would you want to wear your long desired timepiece and left penniless or rather have cash in the bank? Lets roll and share your thoughts..

There was a previous discussion here but it was some long time back. I'm lazy to search.

Ok for me, it's the whole savings ..

Unless I can buy a Rolex under market value which will confirm no depreciation, if not get 6694, 1601, or many more that cost less and still have money leftover. But that's just me..

If you are still saving up on a regular basis, I would say go for the "long desired timepiece".

I thought of this but maybe getting a lesser model tha what you really want defeat the purpose of owning a fine timepiece you so desired.. Side track abit, for me not lossing >15% for flipping a watch bought new or >5% bought pre owned is good enought at least for me

IMHO, I wouldn't even consider a omega let alone a rolex if i had only 10k saving ,
But having said that i remember , i spent almost 80% of my entire saving for a very old car paid in cash back in year 1999,
when i'm only 19+ and still in NS, but i got a part-time job back than , so i thought to myself should be able to maintain it since i only pay for petrol, rd tax and insurance. If major repair i will just scrap the car away .
But now , i won't spent more than 20% of my income on cars , maybe cos getting older and more important commitment to fulfill.

Anyway if die-die must get , i suggest getting a pre-own one , A pre-own explorer2 is worth buying IMO, dun think you would lose more than 1k if you flip in future .
                          Just my 2 cents .....

Better keep some funds away for a rainy day, because watches are not liquid should you have any unexpected expenses come in.

Totally agreed! Dun be too impulsive to buy. To me, I feel that with the ever increasing price tags, $10k is no longer enough, you have to increase your budget if you really like the watch. Even a BN SS Submariner is costing more than $10k (before discount). Just barely a few years back, a BN SS Submariner was around $7k to $8k which was reasonable. If not, get a pre-owned which is normally 10% - 20% lower.

Hi TS, how old are you? Do you have any commitments, like family, study.. bla bla?? Your saving purpose is to get this long desired time piece?

If you are young at 20+ and no commitments to take care of... Why not?
