Actually not sure if you have visited one of the sponsors here but there is company in US with exactly the same mindset as you. It's Lum-tec, a relatively new watch making company in USA and like you, they want to build high quality watches (316L SS/Tungsten case, sapphire glass, super luminous dials -their forte actually but cheap movement). Their designs are pretty solid and I've just ordered some from the local distributor here. The watches are mostly less than S$1K with the chrono quartz one at only S$660. Pretty good value for money, i would say. They are very active in their forums/facebook and you can actually contribute ideas to the owner and designers. Just thought you might want to explore them first as you enter into this venture...
BTW, i have no stakes whatsoever in the company or local distributor!
How much of your monthly salary do you spend on a watch?
I just thought this would be pretty interesting to know, how obsessed are people?
For me my first watch, an Omega was about 90% of my monthly salary.
Now I'm after a Rolex it will be 150%.
Am I crazy or being too conservative?
mate, maybe using annual income to calculate is easier?
