i think the posting of such a strongly worded statement (esp the last sentence) is wrong regardless the current economic condition.

Sometimes, what you see online, you have to take it with a pinch of salt.

Are you sure about this? Have you come across "strong statements" from JW? I, and some here, had. And trust me, their statements are "stronger-worded"..

I think Jonathan don't want to be blamed for giving out any speculative advice. Esp when people see their purchases lose value in current time and they cannot wait to cash out. The mkt still weak. Everyone is scared of a price bubble buoyed by frenzy buying like the property scene now.

You make a good point. Investments are important. Depends how you derive them though. I have friends who got burned by the 1997 property bust and also recently when the shares dived last year 2008. Few of them really lost out in watches because many don't even wear one. I guess enterprises that thrive on watch trading hedge themselves somewhat by taking in a certain percentage of consignments otherwise they could be saddled with a huge static inventory of their own.

Well previously, they told everyone, it's an investment, now they told otherwise.
Now, they are telling everyone prices have dropped, watch is a hobby, not investment, don't want to be in business,

They're not taking in consignment but still doing trade in.
What does the trade-in acceptance and all the gloom & doom that watch is no longer wanted telling me?

THEY JUST WANT TO TAKE THE TRADE IN AT LOW PRICE BY MAKING THESE KIND OF STATEMENT THAT WATCH IS NOW HALF VALUE, BRAND NEW NOW IS CHEAPER THAN PRE-OWNED.
SO THAT THEY CAN SELL AGAIN WITH WIDER MARGIN WHEN MART IMPROVE.

I say we all sell ourselves at forums like this & bypass Pas**** to get better price and buy from here to bypass the **** ppl who told us one story few mths ago and now tell us something else.
