E total eradication of dialet might be possible. very sad as e roots are gone.

like today, went to see one shop, speaking hokkien, hakka, teochew, etc. my father can understand, but i can only understand the hokkien if people are exposed to more languages/dialects, it can really open our minds to other things. there is no need to just stick with mandarin and english, afterall, at last check, malay was singapore's national language, but not many s'poreans can speak it

if you have the environment; sure pick it up very fast. my cantonese also boleh, but, is restrauant style . yesterday working with a few guys from guangzhou, say the words, sometimes say wrong . but better to learn from your mistake, and have them correct you.
