Nothing wrong with my 20-30yr old Rolex boxes.
    They are all real leather.

Since the 90s Rolex changed to plastic box which has interior edges lined with synthetic material.
These boxes suck. They stick together and the material peels when you open the box after a long time.

On the flaky boxes, You cant quite prevent it, unfortunately.
If the material is synthetic, its matter of time.
Agreed, my vintage rolex boxes look almost as good as new even after 30-40 years. Synthetic material will eventually degrade with time.

I made an investment to buy a dry cabinet to protect my watches (and boxes) and camera equipment from the unforgiving Singapore humidity. Getting a dry box with silica beads also work, but you have to be mindful to replenish the beads when they are spent.

Talking about boxes. Any idea where to get the rolex exterior paper boxes as mine is dirty.

Pop mine into big, removable zip lock bags and into the cupboard they go

leather will dry up and flaky off. can try coating the box with a layer of neutral shoe polish to wax the surface to prevent drying up.

I store the box in a cabinet with silica gel in it. The cards i put them all in a ziplock bag.
