IMO, i think vezel looks great.

For looks, i think both cars look awesome but it is very difficult to compare as golf is hatchback and vezel is crossover (hatchback mix with SUV). i think for now, the real head turner will be vezel especially when the DRL is switched on.

For reliability, i thought golf is not affected? Honda has a good reputation of reliable cars but not sure for vezel as it uses a new CVT technology, anyway, honda cars are affected by airbag issues too.

For performance wise, i think golf will beat vezel.

For long term maintenance, i think vezel will beat golf.

For space and seat configuration, vezel will beat golf.

Anyway, depends on TS's budget, vezel is much cheaper compared to golf!

All sound good but looks like Honda Vezel more suitable for my wife.
Time to go shoping, see how much my 7 years honda crossroad can trade in.

          Honda anytime.

i prefer the golf design and interior build.
but that legendary gear and service terrify me.

no COE rebate when car in workshop.

Definitely Vezel. Unless you can deal with the DSG 7 speed issues which means risk having your car in the workshop most of the time.
Have a few colleagues driving the 7 speed DSG, unfortunately most of them have run into problems.

                    Vezel for sure.

The interior is nicer, newer model.
                    More space, suv-ish.

Also I had a 2014 golf 1.4 tsi sport model.
15,000km my gearbox broke down :/ its under warranty but vw seems to be problematic.

                    Just my 2 cents worth.

Enjoy the free coffee bro hahaha.

My previous ride was a golf sport twin charged model. Had it from september 2010-April 2013. I'm that period I visoted the vcs workshop. O lesser than 25 times. Was lucky enuf to bring home a lousy beetle, comfy Passat, and an underpowered polo for weeklong test drives.

Hank I've shared this countless times but no harm sharing again. Had the following replaced during the 3+ years of ownership:
                      1) clutch 2x
                      2) mu 2x
                      3) steering rack
                      4) both front window winders
                      5) water pump
                      6) ignition coil
                      7) auxiliary fan
                      8) air-come unit
                      9) both brake lamp brackets 2x each
                      10) major leak through a gap in the right rear door 3 weeks after collecting the car, resulting in realignment of door which left the door looking visually out of alignment. Cat was in workshop for 3 days due to wet flooring and carpets.

I thought I was lucky enuf to escape the most important and inescapable vw ownership experience -towing but I was wrong. 2 weeks before I was to collect my new ride, my golf was struck by the flash of death. Tow truck driver told me I was the 4th car that day with this mu problem. And a week prior, he picked up the latest model golf (my was previous model) as it had stalled along tangling road for the same mu problem.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

The hype for golf is long Gone. I recall in 2010-2013 where everyone seem to buy the hatch back due to its lower price compared to other German rivals .

Now the 7th version. And the DSG still ....

                            Vezel FTW!
