  • Would you buy the Apple Watch?

The general consensus seems to be no in other watch forums but I'm curious what do you guys think about the Apple Watch?

    Planning to buy one?
Wear it alongside your current watches?
or ditch your watches and live with just the Apple Watch?

Purely on looks, I am tempted.
However, even if the technical details work out, I will probably wait for Gen 2.

      Not for me.

      1) Not an Apple fan
      2) No smart watch will replace any of my mechanicals

If I need a smart device, my phone is always there to do the work. If I am going to wear a timepiece on my wrist, it will have to be the traditional mechanical way.

I am intrigue by it still, after watching their video narrated by Jony Ive, Senior Vice President of Design at Apple Inc.

The different type of straps available got me thinking "Panerai" in the smart watch arena. Great way of marketing not just focusing on the technical capabilities but also the outlook and various customization options.

No way I will wear this..

            1) Every father mother son will start wearing one, from the pesky tween to the retiree. Market will influx with large variety of casing and straps.

            2) Everytime I see someone wearing a 'Smart' watch nowadays, I immediately think geek.

            3) Then there will be that guy who will wear a normal watch on one wrist and the smart watch on the other.

Great views, it doesn't appeal to me either. Will be interesting to see if it has any effect on the watch industry, especially at the lower end of the market.

Well i wouldnt buy one as i dnt have a need for it. But as far as a smart watch is concerned, it seems to be more appealing than the other existing ones with the different options of straps and even a gold option. With its popular size of 38/42mm topped with sapphire crystal it may prove to be competition to casual weekend wears to the malls for the folks who are used to wearing gshocks or the common seiko watches at similar price range.

I think the Apple Watch will appeal to the younger generations (jeez, I'm only 44...) who may not appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of an "analog" watch. The sensors in the watch will provide feedback unlike anything we have in digital devices today. I think it's the start of a new era. Initially the applications will be limited but over time I can envision things taking off the way they have with handheld devices. Few people saw the potential of the iPhone when it was first released or how smartphones would become an integral part of people's lives. It's really not intended to replace watches as timekeeping devices, but to extend the functionality of what we already have.

Nope, the concept is interesting but contradictory at the same time. The mechanical part should be easily serviced and last for years but what about the smart watch component? will it be servicable/upgradable as technology improves?

The one thing that I think the iWatch is good for is....

To allow u to drive and check your messages/navigation at the same time without holding your phone.
