Parenthood is killing me... esp SINGAPORE education system... my daughter is now in K2. We, the parents, normally very kiasu, let her do Pri 1 assessment books........

Here is a question taken from "Mathematics Practical Periodic Revision For Primary 1 Pupils by SAP" (by the way, this book cost me $7 )

There were 5 businessmen at a meeting. Each businessman exchanged handshakes with one another. How many handshakes were exchanged in all?

Anyone bros here know the answer? hee hee.....

    n(n-1)/2 where n = number of businessmen?

    5 x 4 / 2 = 10 handshakes

It is actually a formula in networking to calculate the number of circuits required to connect up n number of sites directly. So, what is the model explanation given in the exercises? sound scary....

Darkie, since you are awake.... here is another primary one math question:

I flipped through a book and turned to a page of the book. The sum of the facing pages was 25. What were the pages numbers?
