  • Opinion for a leather dress watch

Nt sure if this is the correct area to create this thread but i wan 2 get honest opinion or advice on the above subject. My budget is ltd 2 not more than 4K for a leather dress watch. No preference a.t.m. but size of watch can't b too big, like 39mm or less. Some brands in mind r B&M, Ball, IWC, Longines, RW, Tissot.

4k for a brand new watch or second hand okay too?

omega AT... 2nd hand ones represent very good value for money. i like the thinner 2500 models.

steel only or TT? you may be able to buy a 18k gold watch for lesser known/less popular brands or older models (smaller sized) on your budget...

Brand stand value, size 36, sweet aftermarket leather strap. 4K, no issue..

I always though the Orient Bambino is incredibly value for monies as a dress watch for its price.
Something around the S$4k mark, how about the IWC autmatic portofino?

Since you're not particularly eyeing the higher end brands, you will still have lots of others to go for. Better if you set some targets like case type and material, leather color and texture, buckle preferences, dial color, etc. That'll be easier to narrow down your choices. Thereafter, once you have/can bring it down to a handful or less, go visit the shops and try them out. Then it will be easier for you to decide later on. Even on those brands you brought up, each will have several dress models so this is going to be tedious.

Let me "help" with more.. there are Sinn Klassik 1746, Hamilton American Classic models, Frederique Constant, Maurice Lacroix, Tag Heuer, Oris Classic... and many many more

If you don't mind quartz, how about the Rondo Solo de Cartier?

Tks 2 the many who shared. Think i really hv 2 narrow down to some more. Ok, i feel i wld get one wif some gold color on it. Can b the watch face gold, or watch hands n markers gold, or metal case gold. Like part gold color part stainless steel. Some watches i narrowed dwn r the Ball TM120, Tissot Visodate, Longines Conquest Heritage or the Flagship Heritage, IWC Portofino, FC Slimline.

My first nice watch was a Baume et Mercier. They have a relatively new collection called Clifton. Got some gold in some models. Should be within budget. If not, Orient Star and Seiko have some nice dress pieces that will definitely be below your budget. You can even buy a few pieces.

The longiness master collection is really nice! Don't know which model, the Aaron kwok wear one haha.
A datejust makes a nice dress watch but at a higher budget.

i'll be honest and say the watches you've selected are all over the place in price and quality.

how are we to compare a tissot visodate with a portofino? gold tone dial, markers and hands in a steel case vs something in a gold case will also be quite far apart in price, i suspect...

                              good luck on your hunt!
