I'd like to chip in with 1950's vintage AP or VC too. They look fabulous and can retain good value, if you can find a specimen in great condition.

      My 3 suggestions:

      1. Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope, unique in it's own right, mesmerising domed crystal with classic looking chrono pushers and clean look. It does wear larger than the prescribed size as the dial extends all the way to the thin bezel, and is versatile as a dress/sports watch.

      2. Zenith Elite Ultra Thin - I really do like the thinness of this watch but alas, my wrist size is too big for it to look good on. Likely suits 6.5 inch wrists and under.

      3. Tissot Visodate - unpretentious and humble vintage themed dress watch that is priced very decently. It's a great everyday watch, again for wrist-sizes 6.5 inch and under as it wears smaller than it really is. In my opinion, this watch can stay as a guilt-free companion everyday beater to your $4k budget watch.

Staying around $4k plus minus my options will be

        1. Omega deville co-axial movt. Not the gigher end 8500 co-axial movt but just as good.

        2. Iwc portofino white face.

        3. Frederique constant slimline 18k plated and the solid gold.

IWC and Breitling are nice watches in this price bracket. You may also find a nice Rolex with a leather band as well.

I like these 3 brands too, Baume & Mercier, Orient Star and Seiko

Recently looking for a <$300 automatic watch (semi-formal military style or similar), I looked at Orient Star, Seiko, Citizen and Timex.

In the end, I just placed an order for a Timex... my 2nd Timex this year

has OP settle on your watch purchase?

I recently having around the same budget as him, ended up with a Baume et Mercier Classima and a Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope. Love these two watches to death!

Did you check out Sea-Gull? They have a singapore website and a store front. Their military watch might suit you.

i've always wanted a vintage audermars piguet. $2-3k. Super slim design, perfect for dress watch suit attire.
