  • Calling all Whisky lovers!

Hi, are there any whisky lovers here? Would be good to hear from you on your favourite whiskys, where you normally buy from and other tales. Am a beginner in Whisky after many years in wines and now trying to learn more. Currently into the usual brands like Glenlivets, Balvenies, Aberlours and Kavalans.

to be honest, i like blended scotch whiskies... perhaps more than "single" malt scotch...

about to try dewar's signature... after finally finishing a bottle of ballantine's 30 year scotch.

older is not always better. remember to at least try a little of it neat before adding anything else to it.

some whiskies don't pair well with cigars. have fun finding out what you like and what you don't!

Hi.. Yes some blended whisky are nice.. Having a Ballantine 21 years which I received as a gift. Found it a little light though but lovely when neat. My favorite blended is the blue label which is amazingly smooth. Yes I also agree that older whisky are not necessarily better. I can imagine that the quality control in the earlier days are probably not top notch. But have tried a glenfiddich 30 years and was good. Heard Highland Park is pretty good but have not tried yet.

Tried the Nikki at Nectar before.. Not bad. The Japanese do make great whisky. But prices have gone up quite a bit and the Yamazaki are so expensive these days compared to few years ago!

Try Laphroaig if you like something smoky and less floral.

i don't like the retail price of blue label though. i think i can get a more interesting bottle of scotch for just a little bit more...

i am a "bad" drinker.... whatever whisky there is, i will drink that whatever whisky.

still learning, haa. i found that i dun like chivas, too light (floral?).
thanks for the post, looking forward for more contributions from others.

If you like it strong, try Maker's Mark. It's good on the rocks.

Didn't know there is so much knowledge in whisky. What is the best value whisky to buy from the dfs? Used to buy Jim beam , chavis , Johnny walker but looking for a change .
