    Obnoxious customer/after sales services.

I cannot stand it when a company cannot train their staff to have proper respect for the people who spend money to buy their products. Be it a $300 or a $30000 watch.

I share the same sentiment....I've wanted to get a watch from an independent maker but I worry that no one can service it if they close down. Take for example: I like FP Journe but it means I need to send the watch to HKG boutique because there's no AD locally representing it. It also gives me additional stress when I need to ship the watch to another country.

would movement of a watch influence a buyer's decision?

many know that swatch is no longer "selling'' their ETA movements to third parties. as such those brands that has budget will have in-house movements. but the smaller independent ones may not be able to build their in house movement. as such they will turn to other brand supplying movement.

as such there could be many independent watch makers switching to other brand movement. for example, as a watch lover supporting brand X for many years. now brand X is going to use non ETA movement. as a result of change in movement would one no longer support brand X (price of watch remains about the same. no big increase or decrease in price)?

Well, some (brands) don't even acknowledge their watches as 'homage'. They call them their own.. . But I won't name them.

High servicing cost ( ie in the Thousands of dollars) or 1 servicing can allow me to buy a good branded another watch

brand history and identity is important for me..

so any brand that produces homage or something similar to another more famous brand, i'll not consider it at all, even its other models.

                            for me, it will be
                            - the availability to view/try the watch and
                            - the availability of professional watch repairer to service the watch.

I shy away from brands that give a douchey image or are douchey in selling their watches.
