What makes you shy away from a watch brand?

Am in the market for a JLC which I liked because
1. Lack of "celebrity"-advertising
2. Reputation/history
3. Aesthetics
But after a while I may get an Omega Seamaster as a daily beater because I realise
1. Servicing for JLC is expensive
2. Need to factor in servicing intervals and cost
Any thoughts?

The repair and servicing cost normally also factor in the brand premium especially if you use the brands' service centre. For example, servicing of an ETA or ETA based movement of a high-end brand watch always costs higher than servicing a similar movement of a lower-end brand watch.
In conclusion, the maintenance cost of a watch are often relative to the cost of a watch and therefore should be considered as part of cost of watch ownership. In fact this same theory applies to many other consumer goods and almost all luxury items (for example cars) so one doesn't have to be a seasoned watch collector to know/understand this.Watches are like potato chips - You never stop at one
