eh... singapore parking is stupid , no place to park, and once i was driving (me not familar with alot of sg roads), the bastard officer ask me to go away, or get summon, so i drive in one HUGE circle, just to please the officer.

having said that, once at changi T2, i manage to park my car at the taxi bay . the ah neh came by and ask me to go, but i said i was a foreigner, and didnt know the road, so if he could please let me stay. surprisingly, the ah neh let me stay and even my uncle was surprised that i didnt have to go and make a big circle to come around.

today in perth, i just put my business card put on the dashboard and say ill be back in 15mins (loading bay) and no problems.

u have to understand one huge difference. you have to consider land space, car population, car park charges and culture.

having driving in both sg and in perth. in the suburb, you can do that. in sg, there are delivery drivers who post those delivery sign but many of them abusive the 'kindness' and hence it does not really work in sg.

look @ the car park charges and u will understand. in sg, almost everywhere u park in suburban area requires you to pay but in perth, dont have to. in city, you have to, then again u have the parking warden coming around issuing summons as well.

most delivery drivers doing it in perth, will park, deliver and move off. in sg, some of them park, lim kopi, chit chat then move off. u look @ the number of deliver trucks going in @ some of the shopping malls, some even have designated queue. u dont get that in perth.

the other important thing to take note is that the parking warden here seems to be on quota and/or commission basis. as such they are pretty zealous in issuing parking tickets.

yeah that is true, even the suburbs in sg, the parking is limited for deliveries. i think the quota for alot of parking attendents not only in sg, but in oz as well. back in the days, you will get officers waiting for you to return to your car and give you verbal warning, nowadays, you get a ticket on your windshield, no matter how small the issue.

I also kena one recently for parking along double yellow lines near to some eateries. Have never kena it before. But, don't you think our parking attendants are now getting overzeolous now during the badtimes? Guess they have a quota to meet in order to stay employed

End of the day... Juz one word... DUN ANYHOW PARK UR CAR!!

Alot of Singaporean simply treat the road as their own... parking illegally for their own convenient. Can often see empty lots in the nearby carparks but ppl juz park their car at the roadside, so that they can save time looking for a carpark lot, save the parking fee and eat at the market/coffeeshop without needing to walk.(By parking their car within their views)

I ever encountered a guy parking at a "No Stopping" zone causing a massive jam up at the bus lane area. Guess wat?? In the end the reason the driver gave is: "I went to queue up to get free morning "Today" papers. WTH????!!!!

So this kinda ppl who parked their car for their own convenience without considering for others shuold be FINE!!! NO MERCY!!!!!

want to anyhow park, must see situation, if it is in wee hours of the day, then can relax the rules abit. as for parking in front of the coffee shop, i do that too, BUT the major difference is, i make sure i not blocking anybody, some people dun care, and just park their car as if it belong to their father.
