I've been looking for a Rolex that matches my year of birth but find it a little hard to date. There doesn't seem to be a definitive guide of when the watch was made. Different sites provide different numbers.
But then, I've seen a watch at matches my year of birth and the serial number matches my NRIC. Only thing is that the price doesn't match what I'm willing to pay

say for rolex, usually a particular model says it is produced between a particular period. so how to know it is one''s birth year? based on serial number to do estimate?

matching birth date is pretty hard to find. let alone matching your NRIC.
would you be able to provide brand/model/price of watch?

I was aiming those with the serial numbers matching the year of production. I understand this might not be very accurate but close one eye can accept. I don't want something that's recorded on the papers as bought in that year but serial number don't match. For example, 1977 should be 5million series, so something in the 5.4-5.6 million range should be rather safe? I won't get something in 4.99million series that was recorded/sold to the pre-owner in 1977.
Based on my criteria, I've found several but size and price sometimes don't match my fancy.
Was even thinking of going Seiko... 1977 divers look good. and are big. and are not as expensive as Rolex watches!

sometimes if want to get one, really have to pay a little premium.

Only rolex factory will have this information and I don't think they would share this with you. Best you could do is to buy one with May 2013 dated in the certificate( that would be purchased date) .

How does one go about searching for their birth year rolex?
I've been looking for a 84 sub or explorer 1. How does one go about obtaining one from so long ago? Is there some specific shops which specialise in this? Or a list of forums where people specially trade old rolexes? Or through eBay, etc?
Thanks!
