    "permanent" negative mark?

Guess this buyer is too kind to leave a "permanent" negative mark on the seller's otherwise blemish-less records?

I posted a watch for sale at 28k(after doing market research). Someone got the cheek to offer 25k and he's a regular seller in the forums too. Of cos I ignored his sms. Like that considered low ball? Wonder how he feels if ppl lowball his watches for sale...

I believe the seller chose to not leave.

Frankly I find that putting a comment such as low baller stay far far away or saying low ballers look elsewhere etc reeks of arrogance and gives me the impression that seller is not very keen to sell or has unrealistic expectations, and I will stay far far away even if I have a fair market price in mind.

As a seller, i will rather just list the relevant factual details in the ad content, list a reasonable and realistic asking price and leave it there as it is.
But there will be those cases where you already posted a realistic price based on researched and in fact in my case I price another $100 (or more depending) below the recent similar sales and still got people trying to be funny and still offer many hundreds lower. But I guess it's also a disclaimer that seller won't respond to overly low offers so that seller wont be deemed as being rude when ignoring such offers. And also this term is not only used by new sellers; I see veteran sellers using such terms too.

I see your point. I guess it depends on how fast the seller wants to move the piece and how highly sought after is the piece. If I want to move fast I rather welcome more enquiries at the risk of having insincere frivolous enquiries. Anyway, it's easy to just ignore the low ballers. No need to get worked up.

Ya lah, no need to get worked up. I also agree that got offers is better than no offers.

One way to deal with it is to treat all offers as bids. I believe when one sells a watch, he has some kind of "reserve price" in mind. Offers who are below or don't get close to the reserve price, just ignore lor. There is nothing to lose if you don't lose your temper.

If there is such thing as a lowballer, defined by the margin or % the person tries to negotiate down, then I believe we have all been a lowballer before.

From a morale point of view (let's pretend for a moment that we all care about that), is offering 4k to a luxury watch collector asking for 5K for his watch worse than offering 200 or 300 baht to a Bangkok street seller asking for 500 baht for his handcrafted stuff that he sells for a living?

Frankly seller has their own final price they are comfortable with. If someone offer too low, just politely reject& need not say any harsh words. MHO

Agreed. Or just ignore lor...no point getting worked up or thinking of posting the person's number to 'shame' him. It doesn't solve anything.

I just had someone texted me last night after midnight telling me he is really interested in my watch but he has a tight budget. Lucky I wasn't asleep yet, but how do you expect me to reply?! In the end I just ignore and go to sleep.
