  • Hi Watch gurus , anyone know of any microbrands which have a GMT function?

    Hi All ,

As Subject , i would like to find out more if there's any other brands ( which is more affordable ) that have a gmt feature and date function.

    Would prefer 40 - 42mm max.

Thanks in advance for the advise.

Wow you guys are fast. I was about to suggest the same two brands. Both are available at gnomon watches. But the voyageur is 44mm. Thought the 6steel case is very scratch resistant.

The more popular Steinhart gmt will be the ocean vintage gmt. But always out of stock. Might be a good idea to reserve one with a $50 note. No worries if you decide not to get it whe the watch comes cos u can use the $50 deposit on other purchases in the shop.

You might want to check out glycine's airman range. The airman base 1953 vintage is a unique one. The other would be the airman mystery.

Glycine is also available at gnomon.

You might wanna google aqua dive as well.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

are you using the watch for overseas travel or to monitor second/third timezone locally?

if for frequent travel, i strongly recommend an omega gmt with the adjustable jumping hour hand.

can be found on TZ for sub 2k with some patience. otherwise, any brand will do.

Besides Steinhart, you can also keep a look out for Roland Kemmner's release, which often comes fast and goes off fast. But his price is some how a little much more pricey than Steinhart.

If it's a size issue, then you're stuck with the slow adjusting gmts. Waches (esp microbrands) these days are mostly about the same size.

The 300m co-ax omega seamaster gmt wears smaller but slightly thicker. 3k gets you one in acceptable condition. If you need true gmt but are on a budget then a few older citizens and seikos fit the bill but are quartz.

Otherwise look for a watch with a rotatable 12 hour bezel - available as a custom $25 piece for many popular seiko dive watches.

Thanks for the explanation , i was talking about the Omega GMT Great white or black version which i find it cant sit very well on my small wrist. The 300m Co-Ax Seamaster i have not tried it out. i will go and check it out.

yup, i thought that was what you meant - the older seamaster gmt sits funny, especially when on straps.

the co-ax model wears smaller than the white/black version (IMO) but sits taller due to the display back. the latest (recently discontinued) model features the new 3 level co-ax and newer date font.

i've had both and had good experiences with both. good luck!

Hi I'll propose from lower budget to higher budget (generally):

                            1. Steinhart GMT Ocean One
                            2. Christopher Ward Trident GMT
                            3. Hamilton Traveler GMT2
                            4. Mido GMT
                            5. Ball Red Label GMT

Going to the upper scale yet relatively unknown brands (microbrands as you called it), you may look into Jean Richard, Muhle Glashutte. They are quality watch and bang for the bucks if bought second hand.
