Not a "must". Just a "want". Everyone will have their own unique priorities in life.

A hobby should be an enjoyment and not a liability. A watch is a personal choice not a popularity vote. One must remember that essentially a watch is man made. So don't let the watch make the man.

That said, it is also given that in some industries or positions, wearing a nice watch can help you progress, but though that fact, the value of that is essentially Pre-determined by the wearer.

Depends on the nature of the job, really. Guys (and gals) in finance, banking, legal industries, etc. tend to wear luxury watches for any number of reasons, not least to reflect their status. At the other end of the spectrum are those in the 'illicit' or 'underground' industries (whatever these mean). They tend to wear 'bling' Rolexes. I stand corrected on these observations.

            NO, is not a must.

BUT, is good to have it.

            Because, time is precious.

This moment is going to be a history of next moment.

OhOh, what am I doing now doing this to kill time.

Yes, a must have if watch collecting is your hobby.
No, not required if it is just for telling time. (a quartz watch will do just fine)

A big NO for me. No need to follow trends. For me, the most impt thing is to like and appreciate what you have and afford comfortably. I have personal friends who wear nice expensive watches but they take loans to fund their watch hobby cos out of their budget. Is this worth it? No, not in my opinion. Hobby is for enjoyment, not for showing off nor straining yourself financially.

Of cos, if budget is not a problem, by all means go ahead for nice luxury watches, the sky's the limit.

I feel watches are for my enjoyment, what others think or feel is not important. I must emphasize though, financing watch purchases is a personal thing, nothing wrong, just that I do not think it is financially prudent to do so. Please dont get me wrong and think I am making any personal attacks.

Right now, I am happy buying G Shocks, its a fun and interesting thing for me now, not to mention my budget is tight so I indulge only in G shocks now.

Go ahead and do what you like, as long as it does not affect ur daily life nor your finances, enjoy yourself.

                  Cheers!

Is a luxury watch like air which you need to survive?

It's more of a precived "must" imho.

Of course luxury watch is not a must have item. No luxury item is.

To some it's not even necessary to wear a watch at all.

                              End of discussion. Haha!
