  • Advice Sought : Dealing with Overseas Buyers

Hey Guys, a noob when it comes to this.

Need some advice on selling my watch to an overseas buyer.

    1. Mode of payment (pro & cons)
    2. Courier to use
    3. Anything else I should consider ?

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

        1. Bank wire only
        2. Parcel pro.
        3. Document EVERYTHING eg who pays insurance, bank charges, full disclosure on watchee etc.
Last but not least, get at least 3 independent references on buyer. Such references should be from notable forummers/ collectors too.
        Hope the above helps!

Yes. Would advise you NEVER TO accept Paypal as its payment option.... issue being paypal has the option for the buyer to 'claim that the item is not received or its a fake', etc then paypal will reverse the fund transfer made to you.

the problem with paypal is that the account holder can call for "STOP" payment or reverse payment within the first 2 weeks. should you want to use paypal, i would STRONGLY suggest wait after 2 weeks then send out the goods.

also take picture of you putting the things inside and then take picture of you passing the item to the delivery guy. this is to safe guard yourself. coz in some overseas transaction, reputable seller and buyer also got problem.

              1. Bank wire or international money order. nothing else
              2. EMS aka Parcel post insured to replacement value not sale value with "invoice" attached.
              3. wait a couple of days incase anything pops up. you dont want to be stuck without your funds + watch

thats how i would do it

withdraw to your bank a/c, but you will get hit with fees, etc.

its not that easy to anyhow make a claim from paypal n reverse the payment... if like that then people selling stuff on ebay will die already
to make a claim, the person must provide sufficient evidence and must ship the item back to sender n provide tracking number. paypal will then assess based on communication between seller and buyer before deciding a refund.

most buyers (me included) prefer to pay via paypal because of the security and possibe to claim from seller. but then seller have to pay a small amount of fees (which u can include in ur price for ur item) so it's no issue.

of course end of the day if the buyer is willing to wire e money to u that's e best option, but from a buyer's point of view i'm definitely pay via paypal then wire money to an overseas seller

                        1. Paypal (secure for both buyer n seller, but there r fees for seller), Wire bank transfer (most straight forward, but insecure for buyer n fees to be paid)
                        2. provide options to buyer and inidcative price n let them decide (Speedpost, Fedex, DHL has online tracking all the way till reach sender n is faster, safer but costlier. Normal Registered AirMail is cheaper but only can track online till it leaves singapore)
                        3. Packing, make sure u pack ur item securely and with sufficient cusioning.

One important thing for shipping is insured fully.

                            Anything can happen during shipping...

Ask the buyer to pay for insurance amount and they need to pay tax when parcel reach their country.

Dun declare less amount in the customs forms.

Help! How to deal with an overseas buyer?

                              Hi everyone,

I've got an interested buyer from USA who wants to get a watch from me. How do I go about doing this? I'm a complete newbie and don't know what to do. He's asked about shipping costs and insurance, while I've heard about some online buying scams...

                              Help pls.
