They posted up an announcement on their main site to direct members over to the new site and when I got to the new site, I got a shock to see my details, pictures and everything there without my permission and posted up by their admin.

I brought up by posting a reply in the announcement. They deleted my post and sent me a PM to ask me which was the item involved, removed it and did nothing, while I was pissed I thought I didn't want to waste effort making more noise because, seriously...I cannot do anything.

Let's just make it simple, they are a new site trying to beef up their foundation by copying and pasting from everywhere. It's artificial and very fake, I know they cannot make it in the long run if they continue because the member base isn't there but they want to create the image that it is, even if they do make it, it wouldn't look good on them if someone digged up the information which is not difficult to. Either way, it's a mistake from the very beginning for them, which was the main reason why I didn't bother to pursue the matter.

But...they have crossed the line when they are leeching on SGROC as a whole and not just individual members. SG-ROC will communicate with them to resolve this matter.

SGROC wasn't built in a day, we are what we are because we have a strong foundation built strength to strength through every member. Thank you for supporting us.
I think they are not the first in the world wide web to use this method. At the end of the day, the bottom line is whether they have flouted the laws. Correct me if I am wrong, my understanding is that a forum like SG-ROC does not have the ownership of the contents posted by the public (members), although it could stipulate somewhere that it has the rights to reuse the contents in some way. Neither can the members themselves claim the copy rights or invasion of privacy for sharing of such contents they posted on a domain/media that are intended to be viewed by all public.

Having said that, I think fellow forum administrators and members need not be too worked up by this. I understand the forum owners and members each has different concerns, but I agree with Darkie that such model will not be successful in the long run. The watch circle in SG is not very big, and very soon people will get to know that most of the threads there are fetched/consolidated (I try to use nicer words) from elsewhere and are not updated by sellers.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Bro Pegasi,
You're right about reigning in the anger; its not a major transgression after all but it does get on one's nerves from time to time.

Think this is a thin line on whether what they do is legal or not.. It is however aggressive push to promote thier site.
The only thing I see here will be their down fall is the lack of proper administration in which in the long run will be their downfall.

Sucess of any online sales forums is really to have update to date information, ability to view or see seller ratings, and means to contact the sellers and buyers. Think they have already failed in 2 of the 3 points above judging by the comments here

I had a glance at their website and did noted their idea of a standardise template might be a good adoption for SGROC...
Think that will help mods and buyer and sellers alike... that was the plus point on their website...

jsut my 2 cents worth and if you can beat them join them

I think the issue lies not only in the fact that they copied the entire lock stock barrel of ones selling thread and pasted it on another site, but more importantly the accuracies in details whilst bringing the sales thread over.

I witnessed a PAM118 E series - which obviously is pre owned (the same one found in the Panerai Folder here) being classified as "Brand New" in the main listing there. Only upon clicking on the sales thread does it further lead to the seller's original full description.

If I were the seller, I could come under a barrage of criticism for misrepresentation by anal buyers and not even know what HIT me.

same thing happened to me on watches sold early last year. But again, did you advertise in other forums such as ***, which could possibly link to SGwatchmall etc?

anyway, sales enquiries are always good. issues is you get loads of spams from lottery frausters when you show your emails in sales threads.

Rather unlikely they are linked though.

Thanks Hiroki, I found this out only last week when they send me a SMS just as what Bro Zhi Peng mentioned. When I went into their website, I was shocked to find my posting was there. Initially, I felt rather good as it was an extension of my sale but didn't know it has caused so much frustrations to other members here.
