When I go back for reservist, the instruction is that we are not suppose to post pic of ourselves in uniform unless is related to NS. And some has go through approval.

HAHA no lah, what I meant was that the person only took photos of his watches what, not as though he is leaking out classified information

Actually the guy is leaking out information unknowingly, during war or sabotage situation, enemy would know that he is a captain, jungle train, airborne, marksman and etc. The reason for the change in new army uniform is that soldier can quickly remove his/her rank, unit and etc just before they get capture by enemy. So by post all this information,he is already leaking info and compromising himself and maybe even his unit...

I think you are mixing up protecting against leak of confidential info and leak of pictures in uniform.

And yes, I do read our company's code of conduct although I may not remember all of them. In fact, the legal advisor gave a sesson to all staff on code of conduct.

Thanks for clarification. I take it that if there is such instruction from the army officer, there must be such written code of conduct somewhere. There again, I think people are mixing up two things: posing in army uniform, and posing in army uniform wearing Rolex. If there is indeed a code of conduct that forbids posting publicly any picture in army uniform, then there is no arguement. But if there is no such code of conduct or rule, then we are talking morality...

No mixing things, just seeing from big picture. This are thing that ppl think is ok but it where it will cause our downfall. If not why SAF bother to spend money to change uniform when most of us think we will never go into war. It just like ppl mecer expect the haze will never be that bad... I cannot blame u, mr pegasi, as u dun serve NS, so dun see the big pic as u may not have the necessary info.

I believe there a code of conduct in civil service not to showoff yrslf wearing expensive thing especially in uniform.( but rolex very affordable nowadays as kids also wear them, expensive thing maybe like Lange , RM and etc). BTW, SAF officer has to got through table manner training as well. Do not surprise if the code of conduct for wear expensive things is there. I also remember that, officers of certain ranks are told not to take bus and train. But i guess only a civil servant can clarify that with us.

Relax... I also don't see anything wrong with that picture. This captain worked hard to earn his $$ by serving the country honestly, he is entitled to enjoy some of the finer things in life. I'm guessing that he has a clear conscience and shouldn't be afraid of finger pointing and gossips. There are also no rules being broken here if he took that picture in a public place and not in-camp. I feel very sorry for the civil service if there are assumptions of archaic and communistic rules for them, which I believe is not the case and should not be the case. It's just a watch... not like he's showing off driving a Lamborghini or ferrari and pictures of him with women splurging on champagne in clubs, KTVs and hang flower joints :P That I believe then warrants online lynching haha

Also I think that wearing good watches are part and parcel of the military culture in most countries? After all, we have military versions, pilot versions and navy versions of watches

To add, his badges are very impressive... if it were me and I slogged my guts out for those badges, I'll pose with a patek and not a rolex man! haha but that's just me, so I believe he is 'quite humble' liao

Oh~ so I think SAF should ban uniform out of camp? Because once you step out of camp with uniform means leaking out information? Like what you mentioned, rank, unit, guards, ranger, airborne, marksman, etc??

No wonder so many information leaked cause SAF never ban uniform out of camp?

I see nothing wrong posing with the watch bought from the money he earned, firstly, I thank him for his contributions to the country.

I m not sure if you have any personal grudges against him for you to post it up and potentially getting him, his career and eventually affecting him and his family into trouble. End of the day, by posting this up and (hopefully) people will point fingers at him, what do you gain?

I applaud the members of SGROC showing their support and further confirming that this is a forum with matured thinking members who won't gossip like aunties in the markets. This SAF day,I saw people posting pictures of themselves proudly wearing their army uniforms to their workplace, isn't this what our govt is promoting? Why be shy about your uniforms?

Lastly, the facebook group that the picture was posted was PRIVATE. It was done that way for likeminded people to share their pictures freely, something that they may not want to post on their personal fb account because there's bound to be people who are jealous and post something unkind.

Maybe should close this thread. So that the picture will not get any more exposure.

Actually I am very curious about something. If there is anything wrong, why can't you tell him straight in his face on his facebook thread that he had done something wrong? (Obviously TS has FB, since he took the screenshot off facebook...) Why must you take a screenshot and post it in the forum, under your forum moniker, and create a big hoo-ha here? I am beginning to piece the puzzle together already...
