Hello Bros and Sis,

Was wondering anyone has ever invite a Auction event is Singapore?
Will we be able to get good bargain, eg: watches...
Any purchases at Auction any Warranty...
Appreciate if all can share your experiences here..

Have been to one overseas.

Basically got catalog with details and numbers and indicative prices.
Items below certain amount must be paid for on the spot after winning.
There is an extra fee to be paid to the company handling the auction.

I think different auction has slightly different "house rules"

1) Good Bargain? sometimes yes, most of time no as the in-demand pieces will be hotly bidded for. Check for buyer's premium which you need to pay above auction price as commission to auctioneer.
2) Usually no warranty. That's why preview sessions are for you to inspect external condition. Good auctioneers will mention internal conditions too.
3) Good watch auctions to attend www.antiquorum.com but nearest in HK.
4) Should attend at least once or twice for the experience whether you bid or not and most of the time open to public. Register to bid if something in catalogue interests you.

general pricing seems not too attractive.
watched a tv show before, actually you cannot touch/feel the items before aunction but only be able to VIEW using ur eyes when placed in a glass display.
unless really that item no 1 bid and you are lucky to bid @ lower pricing.
condition is another factor too.

Heard mostly things are taken up by big players, where else private buyers like me sure smell smoke if see any interesting piece.. Haa!

Been to 1 public auction, charges 8% on top of bid price...next auction on 1st sept @ Hilton hotel if I m not wrong...

The regular auction at Goodwood Park hotel charges 8% buyers' premium while the rest are 15%. The problem with these auctions is you can't wind the watch, and some of the older watches condition are not very good. Once saw a less than 6 months old Yachtmaster II hammered price at 22k, so including 8% buyers' premium is $23760. Sometimes the bidder don't know the market price and overbid. One thing has to bear with is that there are jewellery biddings in between watch bidding so quite a waste of time sitting there.

15% buyer premium : 20% buyback scheme & 15% tradein scheme
Limited choice : Chose what you want
Buy at own risk : 1 yr warranty
